A Silver Tea Set is a must if you wish to drink tea. There is so much research around now that tea is a very healthy drink. Tea itself comes from the roots of a medicinal plant and as such has been known to have many healthy qualities for centuries.
Whilst our ancestors knew very well its medicinal qualities they could not always agree on how it should be served. As Silver became more available to the lower classes the tradition of serving tea from a silver tea set became the fashion. The Silver tea pot had long been established but soon silver tea sets became fashionable consisting of a teapot, milk jug, sugar bowl and often Sugar tongs and spoons.
These teasets were often given pride of place in a dining room and displayed on a tray or salver.
Used to impress guest these teasets were often the start of much debate on how the correct cup of tea should be served. Should the teapot be pre heated, should the milk be put into the cup before or after the tea and many more variations of how to make the perfect cup of tea were devised.
The use of tea leaves instead of our modern day teabag allowed the mystics to create a mini industry of predicting the future by "reading" the tea leaf pattern left inside a cup.
Drinking tea remains a pleasure today and there is now a growing trend in investing in antique silver tea sets.
